I bought a Volvo XC90 Executive 2.4 TD 2010, with 110,000 miles in March 2016 - almost 14 months ago.
Despite my fair share of bad experiences from second hand car dealers - I was pleased to have dealt with Lakeside Vehicle Management.
I was given £500 more for my part exchange Volvo XC90 2005 than any other dealer for 100 miles radius. I bought the car on the same day - test drive, car exchange & payment - LVM were accommodating despite the sale occurring in late afternoon.
The next day - I took my Volvo XC90 to an independent Volvo garage, Hallmark Volvo in Stockport for assessment ,computer read - minor issues, no problems (required a fuse change for electric accessory power socket).
Only jobs i have undertaken - changed front brake discs, fuse change, service x 2, MOT x 2.
I have now serviced & MOT the Volvo XC90 (Hallmark Volvo) - passed with no repairs required & car mechanic was impressed with service. Thanks again.

I initially contacted Lakeside via the CarGuru website, unlike a few other sites I tried to get help from, CarGuru was easy to navigate around and brought me to you! I was looking for an automatic to replace my manual, much loved, elderly and much dented Mazda. You had a Lexus advertised, which was not among my first choices - I started with the idea of a British built car, but reliability was a potential problem and they were anyway thin on the ground. I then expanded to 'built in Britain', but again thin on the ground, so I widened again to the extent of including Lexus, because of Toyota's plant at Derby. There were 2 250s advertised on the site, both of them sold before my enquiry. One of the respondents said 'Sorry sold', the other said 'Sorry sold, BUT...' that was Andrew, your Used Car Sales Manager's response and we moved on from there.

Andrew said that Lexus 250s were frequent 'visitors' to your showrooms and he would make enquiries to see what was likely to come in in the next week or two. Because of this attitude of wanting to help, I wrote back that I would not be contacting anyone else for at least a month, in order for him to source a car for me. In the event it took less than that, the above model came in, a little long in the tooth at 5 years, but with only 39000 miles travelled and, he assured me, in tip top condition. We hadn't ever met, had spoken I think only once, otherwise contact was via e-mail, but I felt easy with Andrew and felt that he was a person I could trust. I was definitely right with that latter point! Based on Andrew's description and word, I said I would buy, subject to a test drive, but if the car was as described - and I've already said I felt a bond of trust had been mutually established - then the car would not be being returned to Lakeside. We had also agreed a mutually acceptable price. The car had not yet reached Lakeside, but I was in no particular hurry and agreed to wait. When ready for me to test drive, bearing in mind I live in Coventry, I agreed to pay the delivery round trip, if I did refuse the car, and transferred the £180 into Lakeside's account as a gesture of goodwill.

On the day of delivery, because I keep rather unusual hours, it was agreed the car would be delivered in the latish afternoon - 4pm or later. I received the dreaded phone call just when it was becoming clear there was a hitch and indeed there was - the driver had been on a job into London in the morning and was to deliver to me when he returned from that. He had rung to say he was stuck in traffic and Andrew was explaining that to me. But it was here again that Andrew's enviable approach to customer service shone through again - the car had been promised for that day and that day was when I would get it. He would deliver it himself, late unfortunately, but he would not let me down.

When he set off, after finishing for the day, he hit the M6. And disaster struck again - I heard of a 12 car pile up around Junction 7, via local radio, and sent a text to Andrew. He then texted to say the car's SatNav had already sorted an alternative and he was on his way, but likely to be a bit later than planned. At no time was there any suggestion of leaving it for another day and heading home.

When he did arrive he refused a cup of tea or anything else, and we were straight out onto the test drive. At no point had he expressed anything other than genuine concern to look after his customer - me. I was extremely impressed. And of course I bought the car! Another point here - Andrew explained features and benefits, demonstrated where possible, but he allowed me to buy the car. As a once upon a time salesman myself it is a technique I used, tried to persuade others to use, when I was employing sales people, but found few had the ability. And very few of the car salespeople I have spoken to, not just in recent months, but ever, have exhibited that same control.

The after-sales service has been excellent as well and I have already trumpeted Lakeside's service to my friends, but I shall be talking to many more people about my 'new' car and the service I received over coming months. It is a pity we cannot continue the association through servicing etc., Manchester is a little too far, but I shall keep talking about you and, as I approach my need for a replacement, at some future time, it will be Lakeside I contact before any one else.
